Lisa Oestreicher was commissioned by the Woburn Estate to undertake paint research in the State Apartments to establish their original appearance, with particular emphasis given to determining the Palladian gilding pattern.

Woburn Abbey

Woburn Abbey is a Grade I listed country house and the ancestral home of the Dukes of Bedford. The family seat was established in 1619 with the construction of a two-storey wing, which houses the existing Entrance Hall, Grotto Chamber and Green Parlour. The present Palladian house was the result of the Fourth Duke’s vision and includes the State Apartments designed by the architect Henry Flitcroft in the 1740s.
